The name of the game for this next term that I will be teaching. I have an advanced video class on my plate as well as an advanced editing class, and what I really want to teach these guys is what really happens when you go to shoot a production. How much work you actually have to do before the cameras roll and how long it takes to put the shoot together, even if you are only shooting a few pages. I think it will be a challenge, but I also want to get them excited about going through the real process.
Most video classes give you a camera and say come back with a video, when in reality a lot more goes into an actual production and no job they ever have will work like that.
Teamwork is the theme that I will be pounding home for the next 10 weeks. And I am also going to add in a Donald Trump kind of power trip for myself. I am going to implement a “three strikes, you’re fired” policy. Of course they will just be fired from their current position and replaced, but they will still have to come and be a part of the whole experience.
I know I am just babbling, but the ideas are still coming and this is mostly what I am thinking about these days.
